"Long weekend beginning of May 2008"
Our forums manager Wilmaaa had invited for her birthday in the „Odenwald“, or more precisely to Hetzbach. Marcus had bought here a house and similar to lots of other people he has a garden-train in the backyard. But …. “normal” people have a garden-train in scale 1:8 or so, but Marcus in 1:1! Besides a truck he therefore has several machines running on the tracks and of course they had to do lots of free-rides for the other Diesel-maniacs. I strongly assume that it wasn’t only for me the very first trip in the cabin of a train. And a train offers lots of other functionalities, e. g. to fix the projection canvas for the presentation of pictures from an exploration tour to China – very interesting.
The trucks-“parade” must have impressive for the neighbours.
Thanks to Wilmaaa for the invitation, Marcus for his hospitality and of course to Markus for the impressive pictures. It was an enjoyable meeting with nice guys. Unfortunately I only took 3 photos, but for those one who are interested in more please refer to here and here.
After my arrival at 30.04.08 in the evening, I started from here at 01. May back direction home but made a stop over in Bodenheim at the Rhine. Here was another event, the „Leerkabinentreffen“ which had taken place already several times. Lots of old and new mates made it a really good meeting.
Wolfgang and Heidi had organized a tour through the wine yards which became really enjoyable because of the free and wine and local sausages served whilst the tour.
Photos of the fire brigade and their turntable ladder-truck I didn’t took this time but there are some already here in the forum. Another part of the meeting were the technical hints and explanations about camper-van technology from Krabbe.
As well the slide shows in the evening from Krabbe about his trip to southern England and from Sven about Island were very well attended even through it was very fresh in the dark. And of course another point to have a look at the solutions from the other people built into their camper-vans, there were lots of.
The highlight for most of us and definitely my family and me was the original Swiss cheese fondue, again a culinary event - thanks a lot to Parapanters !
Thanks as well to all people who joined and of course again to the ones I already mentioned and made it to such a success – I am already looking forward to the next one from 01. May till 03. Maiy2009 with Swiss cheese fondue, nice people, …. .
