For
all of you who are looking for some ideas for their camper here a hint to the
subject safety.
Once
robbers have opened our old VW LT camper by using a simple screwdriver to open
the standard VW locking I have “stolen” myself the following idea of another
camper colleague form the VW LT 4x4 club.
A
normal locking, normally used in doors was mounted into the cabin. The bolt of
the locking reaches into a hole of the door. This provides a safe protection
against robbers!
This
idea was integrated as well into Big Foot. I have added a cover as an
environmental protection and to hide the keyhole from these funny guys who want
to enjoy me by putting chewing gum or other stuff into the keyhole.
Unfortunately
I only found these covers so far only in two specialised shops and I can assure
that they were not cheap! Who still wants to have them I can only recommend to
print this picture and go with it to a dealer / shop who is specialised on
security / safety items for doors.
Of
course all the keys are the same type for the camper and our house. But we have
a key system and so the keys for the drivers cabin have a lower access level. So
we don’t have to leave our master key in case of a garage stop. Main thing for
me is to have one key for everything!
